India highly appreciated the results of the meeting of the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska, noting the progress in the dialogue between the two countries. This was announced on August 16 by the official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry Randhir Jaiswal.
"India welcomes the Alaska summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Their leadership in achieving peace deserves to be highly appreciated," he said in a statement on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Jaiswal stressed that only dialogue and diplomacy can contribute to the way forward.
"The world wishes the conflict in Ukraine to end as soon as possible," the representative of the ministry stressed.

Putin's meeting with his American counterpart took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska.
