The speed with which the summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, was organized was unexpected. This was stated on August 15 by BBC journalist Steve Rosenberg in a conversation with Izvestia.

"A week ago, no one expected that there would be a summit in Alaska. <...> Unexpectedly, the speed with which the summit was organized. Maybe this suggests that there will be some kind of agreement," Rosenberg said.

The journalist noted that the holding of the summit of the two powers indicates the desire to conclude an agreement on peace in Ukraine. In addition, he suggested that cooperation between Russia and the United States in the Arctic would be discussed at the meeting.

"Cooperation in the Arctic is expected. We were at the Arctic Conference in Murmansk, and these issues were discussed," Rosenberg said.

According to him, he has not yet prepared questions for the press conference of the presidents of Russia and the United States.
