Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Alaska, where he will hold talks with American leader Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for cooperation with Foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), announced plans by the heads of state to discuss the restoration of bilateral ties during the Alaska summit.

Trump expressed confidence that the talks with Putin would be successful. He clarified that in case of an unfortunate combination of circumstances, the presidents would simply "go home."

The Presidents of Russia and the United States will meet at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Anchorage on August 15 at about 11:30 local time (22:30 Moscow time). The central topic of the meeting of the heads of state will be the discussion of the conflict in Ukraine. Following the meeting, a joint press conference of the heads of state is planned.
