US President Donald Trump described his recent telephone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as wonderful, adding that the talks had been fruitful. He expressed his impression on August 15 on the Truth Social network.
"I had a wonderful conversation with the esteemed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. <...> Our conversation was very fruitful. We discussed many topics, including the visit of President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin's trip to Alaska," Trump wrote.
The American leader added that he was looking forward to meeting with his Belarusian counterpart in the future.
On the same day, the Telegram channel Pool One, close to the press service of the President of Belarus, reported that Lukashenko, during a telephone conversation with Trump, invited a colleague from the United States to come to Minsk with his family. He accepted the invitation. The parties discussed issues on the bilateral agenda, global conflicts, including the Ukrainian one, and agreed to continue contacts.
Earlier, on July 31, Lukashenko called Trump's return to the White House a window of opportunity for improving U.S.-Belarusian relations.
