A British woman beat a grandmaster in chess at the age of 10 and set a world record.
Bodhana Sivanandan, a 10-year-old girl from Great Britain, became the youngest chess player to beat a grandmaster. This was reported by NBC News on August 15.
The girl defeated Grandmaster Peter Wells at the British Championship in Liverpool. Bodhana is currently considered an international master of the game, just one step below the grandmaster.
Sivanandan managed to break the record of American Karissa Ip. At the New England Championships in 2014, Ip was 10 years and 11 months old, she beat American Alexander Ivanov. Bodhana is 10 years and 5 months old.
Earlier, on July 22, Roman Shogdjieff, a 10-year-old Russian, became the youngest international chess master. Shogdjieff's achievement was sent to the Guinness and Russian Books of Records.
