New sections of streets have entered the residential permit zone in Moscow

Since August 15, 2025, a number of new sections of Moscow streets have entered the residential permit zone. The addresses have been coordinated with local municipal deputies, the Moscow Department of Transport said.

The innovations will provide local residents with priority when parking a car near their home, the department noted. A resident permit makes it possible to leave a car in the area of residence without payment every day from 20:00 to 8:00 or around the clock, if you pay an annual fee of 3 thousand rubles. Due to the expansion of the zone of resident permits, drivers will be able to find parking spaces faster, as their turnover will increase and parking lots will be vacated faster, according to the Moscow Department of Transport. According to statistics, paid seats are released 4.5 times faster than free ones.

The paid parking project in Moscow has shown many positive results, the department noted. They reduce the number of violations of the rules of stopping and parking, as well as the arrival time of emergency services, which increases security in the city, the department stressed.

Over the past 12 years, "chaotic parking" has disappeared in the capital, and the number of violations of the rules of stopping and parking has decreased by 64%. Parking turnover has also increased — more motorists use the same place per day, and emergency vehicles arrive twice as quickly to respond to calls. In addition, thanks to an integrated approach, including paid parking, the average speed of traffic has increased.
