The body of British meteorologist Dennis Bell, who disappeared in 1959, was found in a glacier on King George Island. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on August 12.

"It was only in January 2025 that Polish researchers discovered skeletal remains and personal belongings near their station on King George Island in Antarctica. <...> DNA tests have confirmed Bell's identity," the article clarifies.

The publication noted that in 1959, the 25-year-old meteorologist worked at the British scientific station. He watched the weather, cooked food for the team, and maintained radio contact with his homeland. One day, while working, he fell into the snow. A colleague heard Dennis's scream when he fell into a glacier crack, and wanted to save him with a rope, but the strap that the meteorologist was holding on to broke. For decades, the scientist was considered missing.

The BBC reported on August 6 that the body of a man who went missing 28 years ago was found in a melting glacier in the remote and mountainous Kohistan region of Pakistan. The man disappeared in the area in June 1997 after falling into a glacier crack during a snowstorm. It was noted that he was traveling with his brother on horseback that day.
