In St. Petersburg, fake FSB and Roskomnadzor employees convinced a pensioner to protect her savings from a "fraudulent attack" and lured 1.6 million rubles away. This was announced on August 13 by a source of Izvestia.

"Scammers disguised as representatives of the FSB and Roskomnadzor called a 77-year-old St. Petersburg woman for several days. Believing that unknown people were trying to withdraw money from her bank account, the pensioner decided to follow the instructions of her interlocutors," the source said.

The woman was offered to transfer her savings to a courier in order to transfer them to a "secure account." Between July 29 and August 1, she met strangers several times in different parts of the city and gave them her savings totaling 1.6 million rubles. An investigation is underway into the incident.
