The US administration of Donald Trump lacks experienced specialists on issues related to Russia and Ukraine. This was reported on August 13 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper with reference to the former American ambassador to Bulgaria Eric Rubin.

"It is safe to say that Trump does not have a single adviser from among decision makers who would be an expert on Russia and Ukraine," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

According to the newspaper, the country's government entrusted negotiations with the Russian Federation to the president's special envoy Stephen Witkoff, who does not have much experience in foreign policy. At the same time, experts in the region had previously been suspended, according to the newspaper. This was due to Trump's decision to prioritize employee loyalty over their work experience, and as a result, the "aggressive campaign" led to a reduction in specialists.
