The European Union (EU) is currently in a difficult situation, so accepting Ukraine could have an even more negative impact on it, as well as result in Hungary entering the "path of impoverishment." This was announced on August 12 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"We should never, under any circumstances, integrate with Ukraine. Neither in NATO nor in the EU. <...> First of all, all our money goes there. If this happens, it will mark a direct path to the impoverishment of Hungary," he said in an interview for the Patriota Internet portal, which was posted on the YouTube channel of the same name.

Orban suggested that if Ukraine becomes part of the EU, Hungary's agriculture could suffer losses and decline. In addition, as the Prime Minister suggested, this decision by Brussels will entail the loss of jobs in his country.

That is why Orban called for avoiding this "at all costs," pointing out the need for these measures to neutralize the already emerging financing problems.

On the same day, Orban noted that Hungary, if desired, is able to arrange the collapse of Ukraine "in just one day," but currently sees no benefit in this. He noted that Kiev, which broadcasts its disrespect, depends on Budapest at least in matters of electricity and gas, so if an accident occurs, "Ukraine will stand up."
