- The media learned about a possible online meeting between Trump and Vance with Zelensky and EU leaders
This Wednesday, August 13, US President Donald Trump and US Vice President Jay Dee Vance can take part in an online meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of the European Union (EU) before the summit in Alaska. This was reported on August 12 by ABC News TV channel with reference to two American officials.
"Trump and Vance will participate in a virtual meeting on Wednesday (August 13. — Ed.) with Zelensky and European allies," the text quotes the sources as saying.
Details about potential virtual negotiations were not disclosed. However, as the interlocutors of the TV channel noted, Zelensky expects that after Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, the United States and Ukraine will also become possible.
In addition, describing a similar online meeting that took place last Friday, August 8, and which was attended by Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, officials noted a "positive attitude" towards resolving the situation.
Bloomberg reported a day earlier, on August 11, that Zelensky, together with EU leaders, would initiate a telephone conversation with Trump. It was noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as the leaders of Italy, Poland and Finland could possibly take part in the conversation.
