- By the end of 2025, almost 50 communication base stations will be built in the Kursk region.
By the end of 2025, almost 50 more domestic base stations will be built in the Kursk region, which will provide high-speed mobile Internet and high-quality voice communications. This construction is being implemented by Rostelecom and Tele2 companies as part of the federal project "Eliminating Digital Inequality 2.0" (USN 2.0).
Currently, base stations have already appeared in 195 settlements in the region from 2021 to 2025. In particular, by the end of this year, stations will appear in 47 more settlements.
So, Rostelecom built the 500th domestic base station from the BULAT company as part of the second stage of the UCN 2.0 project. It was launched in the village of Petrovo-Hutar in the Cheremisinovsky district of the Kursk region, where about 400 people live, said Izvestia correspondent Tatiana Simonenkova. Residents actively voted for the construction of the tower. Thanks to the Internet, local residents can now access remote studies, work, news, online doctor appointments, and more.
"Of course, it is very significant and significant for us that the Yubeleiny 500 tower is installed on the Kursk region. I am grateful to Rostelecom <...> for this choice. Earlier, a list of settlements was formed where the base reception stations should be installed, and this is one of those points," said Alexander Khinshtein, Acting Governor of the region.
It is noted that the opening of the base station for the village was very timely, since the local school is closed for repairs and all children are studying distance learning.
"The appearance of the base station was a big event for our settlement, as there were great difficulties with communication, it was difficult for people to call an ambulance," said Elena Utkina, head of the Petrovsky Council.
According to her, with the advent of the station, life has become much easier, and the locals are very happy about this.
To build base stations, builders and signallers have to overcome not only technical, but also natural and climatic obstacles. Currently, the development of domestic network equipment solves the important problem of communication accessibility even in small towns in Russia. Mikhail Oseevsky, the head of Rostelecom, said that by the end of 2025, it is planned to install up to 1,000 Russian base stations under the digital inequality elimination program.
"The program is unique. Base stations are located on islands in the Arctic Ocean, and high in the mountains. Therefore, this is a truly global and unique project. We just don't know any other examples in the world," Oseevsky stressed.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a profile strategic session on May 26 that Russia was noticeably ahead of European countries in terms of home Internet speed. He said that currently about 39 million people use home Internet services in Russia. Most of them have speeds of 100 Mbps or higher.
