- An 11-year-old girl who temporarily lived in Ukraine was reunited with her mother in Russia.
Anastasia, an 11-year-old who temporarily lived in Ukraine, was able to return to her mother Anna in Russia with the assistance of Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, and Qatar's mediation. The footage is published by Izvestia on August 12.
"We continue to work on reuniting children with their loved ones in Russia, Ukraine and other countries, which we are carrying out on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. <...> We helped in reuniting the girl with her mother," she wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to the Children's Ombudsman, Anastasia lived with her mother in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), and in 2022 she was taken to relatives in Ukraine. The girl was separated from her mother by the events in Mariupol, after which she ended up in an orphanage. The child could not return to his family due to difficulties in paperwork. After the reunion, the family will travel to Mariupol again.
Lvova-Belova noted that she took the situation into account after the family's appeal. She also thanked Qatar, the International Committee of the Red Cross and representatives of relevant agencies.
The Children's Ombudsman clarified that currently, with the participation of the Institute of Commissioners for Children's Rights, 26 children have been reunited with relatives from the Russian Federation, and 112 children with relatives in Ukraine and in third countries.
Earlier, on July 16, it was reported that a 13-year-old boy had returned to Russia from Ukrainian territory through the mediation of Qatar. It was noted that the child had been living in Ukraine since 2016 with his grandmother, but the family and the boy himself expressed a desire to reunite in the Russian Federation.
