Switzerland has joined the European Union (EU) anti-Russian sanctions and added 14 people and 41 legal entities to the list. This was announced on August 12 on the website of the Federal Council of the country.

"Another 14 individuals and 41 legal entities are now subject to asset freezes and a ban on providing economic resources. They are also prohibited from entering and transiting through Switzerland," the statement said.

Thus, the restrictions affected Russian and international companies operating ships that are allegedly involved in the transportation of Russian energy resources, Russian oil traders and suppliers of the Russian military-industrial complex. 105 vessels were also placed under restrictive measures.

Earlier in the day, the European Council published a resolution on the continuation by the leaders of the EU member states of the sanctions policy against Russia against the background of the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump. It was noted that the EU countries also expressed their intention to continue providing comprehensive support to Kiev.

Prior to that, on August 11, the head of the EU diplomatic service, Kaya Kallas, announced that the bloc would work on the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions. She insists that a truce must first be established without preconditions, backed by a strict control system and reliable guarantees.

On July 30, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia had developed immunity to sanctions imposed by other states.
