The situation with meningococcal infection has stabilized in the Russian Federation, and doctors have registered only two cases of the disease in a week. This was announced on August 12 by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
"Currently, the situation with meningococcal infection in the Russian Federation has been stabilized as a result of a set of preventive measures. Over the past week, only two cases have been registered in the country," the RIA Novosti press service said.
In addition, cases of morbidity were recorded mainly among migrant workers, but thanks to timely anti-epidemic measures, including vaccination, the spread of infection was prevented in Russia, and the foci were eliminated by specialists in a short time.
Earlier, on August 12, an infectious disease specialist, Candidate of medical Sciences Ekaterina Stepanova announced that meningococcal vaccination is included in the vaccination calendar according to epidemiological indications. According to her, this allows for prevention for those who belong to the risk group.
In addition, Lilit Arakelyan, an infectious disease specialist and pediatrician, stated that it is necessary to get vaccinated to prevent the disease. According to her, vaccines against meningococcal groups A, C, W, Y, and B are now available in Russia.
