- Embassy The Russian Federation pointed to London's attempts to disrupt the settlement in Ukraine
The British authorities have not stopped trying to disrupt the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on August 11 on the website of the Russian Embassy in London.
The ministry noted that the Russian side remains open to resolving the Ukrainian conflict through diplomatic means. They clarified that it is necessary to eliminate the root causes of the crisis for long-term peace.
"Against this background, we note the incessant attempts by London and some of its partners to disrupt a peaceful resolution of the conflict by eliminating its root causes. This is clearly demonstrated by the statements and the activity developed by the British leadership on the eve of the Russian-American summit in Alaska," the message says.
The embassy added that these actions only confirm the intentions of European countries to continue using Ukraine as an "anti-Russian battering ram."
Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the heads of European countries are trying to prepare for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska. It is noted that Kiev and its allies are trying to "avoid an outcome in which Ukraine will be forced to lose a significant part of its eastern territory."
On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. The US president noted that details about the upcoming negotiations will be published later. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region.
