- The State Duma proposed to allow obtaining a driver's license from the age of 16 for special achievements
On August 11, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the New People faction Vladislav Davankov, Anton Tkachev and Yaroslav Samylin proposed to provide teenagers from the age of 16 with the opportunity to obtain a driver's license for significant achievements in education, sports or entrepreneurship.
"We consider it advisable to consider the possibility of introducing a legal mechanism according to which the issuance of a driver's license from the age of 16 will become possible if special conditions related to personal achievements of citizens are met," the document says, quoted by TASS.
It is noted that holders of federal or regional awards in science or education, high-level athletes and current sole proprietors with proven work results will be able to get their rights ahead of schedule.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the State Duma would consider lowering the minimum age for joining a political party in Russia to 16 years. The relevant bill was introduced by Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, along with a group of other deputies.
