- The former Moldovan prime minister pointed to the country's descent into poverty under Sandu and her party
The political regime of Moldovan President Maia Sandu and her ruling Action and Solidarity (PAS) party has plunged the republic into poverty. This was announced on August 11 by former Prime Minister, leader of the pro-European Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Filat.
"In just five years, the PAS government was able to "reach" a record high — cumulative inflation was 76.8%, which is the highest level in the last 25 years," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to him, the blow turned out to be the most painful for pensioners and people with low incomes. Filat specified that natural gas has increased in price six times, which is an absolute anti-record in Europe, and the cost of primary foodstuffs has increased two to three times. The corresponding figures do not cover the growth of salaries and pensions.
The former prime minister clarified that the party was shifting the blame to the crisis. As proof, he showed official statistics according to which Moldova is experiencing record inflation, skyrocketing tariffs, loss of purchasing power and the most massive wave of migration in history.
Filat also stressed that Sandu and her government will be "associated with poverty, chaos, disorder and unprecedented price increases for many years to come."
In April, former Moldovan Prosecutor General Alexander Stoyanoglo said he was returning to politics to put an end to the arbitrariness and abuses of President Maia Sandu and her ruling Action and Solidarity Party. He noted that Sandu has built such a system around its name, which eliminates independence and punishes other authorities for disobedience.
At the same time, the former president of the republic, Igor Dodon, stated that the Moldovan judicial system was under the control of Sandu and the PDP. He noted that this state of affairs deprives the Moldovan leadership of trust and points to abuse of power and actions contrary to the Constitution.
