- A bill on blocking materials with obscene language has been submitted to the State Duma.
A bill has been submitted to the State Duma (State Duma), which proposes to block materials that contain swear words on digital platforms and on social networks. The relevant document was published in the State Duma's electronic database on August 11.
The author of the initiative was Andrei Svintsov, Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy (LDPR).
"At the moment, the content containing obscenities is not blocked. The bill implies the need to block such content," the document says.
The project involves remounting or using an audio signal instead of swearing in materials that will be posted on digital platforms and social networks. According to the author, such measures will prevent their public broadcasting.
Earlier, on April 10, the deputies proposed to fight obscenity and took the initiative to increase fines for swearing on the Internet and in public and to begin to bring to justice those who organize concerts with artists swearing obscenities from the stage. It was noted that the project is aimed at restricting people from spreading obscene language.
