More and more countries in the world do not support Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, the country is moving towards international isolation, while its allies are ready to recognize Palestinian statehood. This was announced on August 11 by Bloomberg columnist Mark Champion.

"The consequences for Gaza and its residents are terrible. <...> This indefinite occupation, unrecognized by [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his supporters, also poses a long-term threat to Israel's future," the article says.

According to the agency, Israel's reliance solely on force in relations with other countries in the region is rapidly "undermining support" from its most important allies in the Middle East, Europe and the United States.

According to Champion, Israel's "loyal allies" have distanced themselves from the country and offered to recognize Palestinian statehood, which they "have long resisted." He noted that the allies of the Jewish state now fear that the ultimate goal of the country's authorities is the destruction of Gaza, "creating conditions for the political cleansing" of Palestinians and its settlement by Jewish Israelis. That would be a "political victory for Hamas."

At the same time, the columnist admits that Israel's geopolitical position has "improved markedly" recently due to the country's success in fighting the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah and Iran.

On August 8, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved Netanyahu's decision to occupy Gaza. The next day, thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv against the Israeli Prime minister's plan to seize the Gaza Strip. The protesters demanded an end to the military conflict and a deal with the radical Palestinian movement Hamas for the release of the hostages.

Later, on August 10, Netanyahu called the absence of a unified Palestinian state a key problem in relations between the Jewish country and the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the Palestinians "were offered many times to create a state," but they refused.
