Supporters of the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, who was sentenced to seven years in prison in Moldova for financing the Shor party, went to a rally in support of political prisoners at the building of prison No. 13 in Chisinau. This was reported on August 10 by the Telegram channel Sputnik Moldova.

It is specified that in addition to Hutsul, the action is aimed at supporting her colleague Svetlana Popan and activists of the Victory bloc Ilya and Irina Volchuk.

According to Sputnik Moldova, the protesters brought flags and posters. They shout "Freedom!" outside the building of prison No. 13 in Chisinau. It is there that the Hutsul is kept. The approaches to the building were blocked by the police.

No arrests were reported at the protest.

Earlier, on August 5, Hutsul was sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of allegedly financing the Shor party. A protest rally was held in front of the courthouse in her support. The head of Gagauzia expressed great support from the people of the autonomy and urged "not to give up." Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, called on international structures to assess the Hutsul verdict.

Later, on August 7, the People's Assembly of Gagauzia announced that it did not intend to recognize the sentence imposed by the Hutsul. The parliament considers the verdict "politically motivated and anti-Gagauz." A regional headquarters was set up to coordinate actions in defense of Bashkan.
