The number of protesters participating in a strike in Israel against the occupation of Gaza has increased to 10,000. This was reported on August 10 by The Times of Israel (TOI) newspaper.

Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in Tel Aviv and cities across Israel on Saturday evening to call for a hostage release deal and a cease—fire agreement.

It is noted that this is one of the largest protests in recent months.

Thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv on August 9 against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to seize the Gaza Strip. The protesters are demanding an end to the military conflict and a deal with the Palestinian Hamas movement to free the hostages.

Currently, about 50 people have been recognized as forcibly detained in Gaza. About 20 of them may still be alive after two years of imprisonment in the tunnels.

On August 8, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that the Israeli Security Cabinet had approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to occupy Gaza City, located in the enclave of the same name.

Prior to that, on August 4, the Ynet portal reported on Israel's preparation of a plan for the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the Israeli leadership intends to switch to active combat operations throughout the enclave. At the same time, the government noted that the army's actions will be conducted even in areas where hostages are being held.
