The funeral of People's Artist of Russia, theater teacher Vladimir Safronov, who died at the age of 85, was held at Dolgoprudnenskoye cemetery in the Moscow region, RIA Novosti reported on August 9.
Before that, a farewell ceremony was held in the Shchepkinsky foyer of the historic Maly Theater building in Moscow. Safronov's family, colleagues, and students attended the meeting.
Among them are Alexey Dubrovsky, the chief director of the Maly Theater, director Vladimir Beilis, People's Artists of the Russian Federation Valery Afanasyev, Vasily Bochkarev and Alexander Vershinin, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Vasily Zotov, actor Sergey Lavygin and others. Other colleagues, students and graduates from Shchepkin VTU sent funeral wreaths.
Safronov died on August 5 at the age of 84. The Maly Theater's press service noted that he was a great master and a unique teacher. Safronov graduated from Shchepkin Theatre College in 1962. In 1972, being already an experienced actor, he began working at the Maly Theater, where he played a total of 60 roles during his career.
The artist took part in such historical productions as "Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich" (Vasily Shuisky), "Prince Serebryany" (Boris Godunov and Malyuta Skuratov), "Tsar John the Terrible" (Prince Mstislavsky), "Tsar Boris" (Semyon Godunov). He was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
