Russia and China are working on visa-free travel for two people
Moscow and Beijing are working on a visa-free regime for tourist groups of two people. This was announced on August 9 by the director of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Klimov, during an interview with TASS.
"Currently, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is considering the possibility of reducing the minimum number of tourists to two people and extending the period of visa—free stay in the territory of the host state to 30 calendar days," he said.
According to Klimov, creating conditions for increasing contacts between citizens of the Russian Federation and China is one of the most important tasks of bilateral cooperation. The Russian side is in constant dialogue with its Chinese partners to simplify mutual travel, the diplomat noted.
On March 7, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow, Zhang Wei, said that China and Russia are gradually moving towards the abolition of the visa regime. He also said that consultations on this issue will take some time, but, in his opinion, it will not take long.
An agreement on visa-free entry for tourist groups is currently in force between the countries. The Ministry of Economic Development announced the launch of the first such trips on August 1, 2023. Visa-free entry is granted for 15 days for groups of at least five people.
