The upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump indicates the intention to show mutual respect for each other. This was announced on August 9 by Bill Borum, Honorary Chairman of the United States-based International Organization of Twin Cities.

"I believe that the intention to meet indicates the mutual respect of the presidents for each other," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Borum noted that the meeting of the leaders of the two countries will lead to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, preparations for a trilateral summit between Russia, the United States and Ukraine, and the normalization of diplomatic relations between the countries.

He noted that Alaska makes the United States an Arctic country, and also invited the two states to cooperate on environmental, infrastructure, and energy issues in the Arctic.
