Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on August 8 condemned the US decision to increase the reward for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to $50 million.

"We condemn the fraudulent reward announced by the US government to the legitimate President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, which represents a new act of aggression against a fraternal country," he wrote on the social network X.

Parrilla noted that the administration of US President Donald Trump has no grounds, including legal ones, for making such decisions.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the United States had increased the reward for information leading to Maduro's arrest to $50 million. It is noted that the American authorities accuse the politician of collaborating with the Tren de Aragua group and the Sinaloa cartel.

On January 10, the United States refused to recognize Maduro's inauguration and increased the reward for his capture to $25 million. In addition, Washington added a new reward of up to $15 million for its appointed Defense Minister, Vladimir Padrino. The State Department has also imposed new visa restrictions on Maduro-linked officials who allegedly undermined the electoral process in Venezuela.
