Planning a vacation requires not only choosing a destination, but also careful budgeting. Natalia Belova, Deputy General Director of Rosgosstrakh Life Insurance Company, told Izvestia on August 9 how to save up for travel without austerity and protect yourself from unforeseen situations.

"Before you start saving, it is important to understand in advance exactly how much money you will need. Determine the estimated expenses: transportation, accommodation, meals, excursions, insurance, and even souvenirs," advises Belova.

The expert recommends setting a reserve of 10-15% of the total amount for unforeseen expenses, especially when planning a vacation with children.

To form savings, the specialist offers several proven methods. So, you should make it a rule to set aside 10-15% of your income every month.

"Use auto—replenishment services — as soon as the salary arrives, a small amount is automatically transferred to a separate account," explains Belova.

For long-term purposes, funded life insurance programs can be considered, which both help save and provide financial protection. In addition, saving is easier if you break down a large amount into monthly goals and record each stage. This approach allows you to see progress and stay motivated. At the same time, Belova warns against unnecessarily strict restrictions. Financial discipline, she says, only works when it is not perceived as punishment. She recommends starting small — giving up unnecessary subscriptions or temporarily switching to homemade coffee.

"Before traveling, it is important to take care of financial health protection. When applying for insurance, pay attention to additional services, such as telemedicine," advises Belova.

The expert reminds that a traveler's policy can be useful not only abroad, but also when vacationing in Russia, especially when visiting hard-to-reach places. Careful preparation for a trip is not only an opportunity to have a good rest, but also to check the level of financial literacy.

Analysts of the member companies of the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) Dolphin, ALEAN, Multitour, Intourist and Russian Express informed Izvestia on July 1 that the high season in Crimea would be at a good level, judging by current sales of tours for July-August. In addition, the number of bookings for this period is 30-40% higher than a year earlier.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
