A suspect in a 25-year-old double murder was detained in the Perm Region.
A suspect in a 25-year-old double murder was detained in the Perm Region. This was announced on August 8 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
"Employees of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, together with operatives from the Perm Region, detained a native of the Kemerovo Region on suspicion of murdering two citizens committed 25 years ago," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
According to Volk, in March 2000, due to suspicion of theft, an attacker took two local residents to a pig farm, where they were severely beaten. The men died from their injuries. The accomplices took the bodies of the dead to the Votkinsk reservoir and drowned them in an ice hole.
The organizer of the crime managed to escape, but his accomplice was detained the same year and convicted of unlawful imprisonment and concealment of a crime, the official representative of the Interior Ministry said.
It is noted that the search for the main person involved was complicated by the fact that at the time of the crime he had documents in the name of another person. Later, the criminal was detained in the Kemerovo region, where he was arrested and convicted of another murder. A criminal case was opened against the man under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").
On the eve of the Sakhalin region, two local residents were found guilty of murder 25 years ago. It is specified that they were convicted under paragraph "g" of part 2 of Article 105 ("Murder committed by a group of persons") and part 1 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, manufacture, processing of narcotic drugs"). One of the defendants was sentenced to 16 years in prison, the other to 10 years in a high—security penal colony.
