WP has learned about the EU's disappointment with a possible meeting between Putin and Trump

Representatives of the European Union (EU) were disappointed by the lack of pressure on Russia from US President Donald Trump and his intention to hold a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the near future. This was reported on August 7 by The Washington Post (WP) newspaper, citing sources.

"Despite all his statements, Trump has not exerted the slightest pressure on Putin. Still. Zero, nothing," said a senior European official.

It is also reported that Moscow's position on the meeting underscores Russia's dominance.

Preparations are underway for bilateral negotiations, the venue is not announced.

Earlier on August 7, Yuri Ushakov, the Russian leader's assistant for foreign policy, said that the Russian Federation and the United States had agreed to hold a meeting of the two leaders in the coming days. Later, Putin noted that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could be one of the suitable places for a summit meeting. He noted that both sides expressed interest in holding the summit between Russia and the United States.
