Bild: Trump said that the conversation between Putin and Witkoff was more productive than expected

In a conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, US President Donald Trump noted that the meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and United States Special Envoy Steven Witkoff in Moscow exceeded his expectations in terms of results. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on August 6, citing sources.

"Trump informed Merz by phone that the conversation between Witkoff and Putin was more productive than expected," the article says.

It is noted that the telephone conversation between Trump and Merz took place at the initiative of the American leader.

Witkoff arrived in Moscow on the morning of August 6. During the visit, he met with Putin in the Kremlin. Their meeting lasted about three hours.

On the same day, during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House, Trump noted that there are good prospects for a meeting with Putin. In addition, he expressed hope for an early meeting between the Russian leader and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
