The Russian Navy has deployed the first Drone Control Center, the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia. It was created in Kamchatka. The military department also plans to build special sites on the peninsula where drones with a long range could be based. Drones "Pacer" and "Outpost" will be responsible for monitoring Arctic latitudes, the interlocutors of the publication noted.

Information from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the air will flow into the Control Center, military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told Izvestia.

"UAVs will allow for round-the-clock patrolling of vast territories and water areas. It is much easier and cheaper to do this with drones than with manned aircraft," he noted.

According to Boltenkov, the characteristics of modern Russian UAVs make it possible to control vast areas. Having a network of special sites for basing, they will be able, replacing each other, to conduct effective round-the-clock monitoring. The new infrastructure for servicing unmanned vehicles, if necessary, will allow additional forces to be deployed to the northern latitudes.
