At least 19 people were killed and 13 injured in Uganda after a truck with people in the back failed to drive up a hill, rolled back and overturned. This was reported on August 6 by the Daily Monitor newspaper, citing the police.

"The truck <...> struggled to climb a small hill <...> and then suddenly rolled backwards, running over some passengers and killing many in the back as it overturned," the material says.

According to the newspaper, the victims were mostly merchants from the city of Hoima, who often make long trips to auction markets to purchase goods. Then they return to Hoima and work at the market in the city center. The newspaper notes that merchants often travel along regional routes, sitting on the roof or crammed into already overloaded small Fuso trucks.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The Daily Monitor added that the accident has caused outrage among local residents, who accuse local authorities of negligence and non-compliance with laws.

A car crash in northern Côte d'Ivoire, which occurred on July 27, claimed the lives of 16 people, and 51 others were injured in various degrees of severity. The incident involved a public transport bus traveling from San Pedro (Côte d'Ivoire) to Ouagadagou (Burkina Faso), and a dump truck with a crane on the roof. The injured were taken to the Katiola Regional Hospital Center (CHR) for further treatment.
