A court has sentenced a resident of Simferopol to 18 years in a penal colony for passing information about an oil depot in Feodosia to the Ukrainian special services. This was announced on August 6 by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Crimea.
"The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea has passed a verdict in a criminal case against a 31-year-old resident of Simferopol. He was found guilty of high treason," the agency's Telegram channel says.
It is specified that in November 2023, the person involved collected information about the movement of a locomotive with tanks of petroleum products to the reception point. Next, the man sent the captured video and the geographical coordinates of the terminal via messenger to a chatbot used by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the press service of the department, the court sentenced the attacker to 18 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony with further restriction of freedom for 1 year and 10 months.
Earlier, on August 5, a court in Sevastopol sentenced a mother and daughter to 12 years in prison for treason. It was clarified that in September 2023, Alexandra Strilets handed over to Ukrainian intelligence the photos of Russian army facilities taken by her mother.
