Sobyanin announced the launch of a record-breaking electric bus route
Electric buses have been launched in Moscow from the Teply Stan metro station to the Kokoshkino Shopping Center. The total number of eco-friendly transport routes has reached a record 220, said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
"Innovative transport makes trips around the city more comfortable," the mayor of the capital emphasized in his Telegram channel. Electric buses have a soft ride, always an optimal temperature in the cabin, wide doors, charging ports for gadgets, platforms for strollers and bicycles, Sobyanin recalled.
Since the beginning of the year, 42 electric bus routes have been launched in Moscow. In total, there are more than 2.4 thousand eco-friendly cars in the capital. By 2030, the authorities of the capital plan to transfer over 80% of the Mosgortrans fleet to electric buses.
"Electric-powered transport has a lot of advantages. First of all, it helps to preserve the environment," the mayor wrote. He added that replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 tons per year. At the same time, the models of electric buses are constantly being improved — in June, the first 12 new-generation vehicles were launched in the city, Sobyanin said.
Earlier, the mayor of the capital announced that 117 more ultrafast charging stations for electric buses would be installed in Moscow. In the first quarter of this year, 67 million trips were made by electric buses. This is about 70% more than in the same period last year. In total, passengers used electric buses over 207 million times in 2024.
