One person has died due to a forest fire in the Aude department in southern France, and another is missing. This was announced on August 6 by the regional prefecture.

"Preliminary casualty reports indicate that one person died at his home in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse. In addition, one person is also missing," the official page of the authorities on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that the fire started on August 5 in the municipality of Ribot. The fire spread to an area of more than 11,000 hectares, which includes more than 15 municipalities.

According to the prefecture, nine people were injured in the incident, including seven firefighters. In addition, 30 cars and 25 private houses were damaged due to the fire, and 2.5 thousand households were left without electricity.

The Xinhua news agency reported on August 3 that five people were killed in a fire in a five-story apartment building in the Chinese city of Wuzhou, located in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south of the country. It is specified that the fire occurred on the ground floor at about 08:30 local time (03:30 Moscow time).
