The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to control the management of humanitarian aid to residents of the Gaza Strip. This was reported on August 5 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump discussed the country's plans to significantly increase its role in providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza at a meeting on Monday evening at the White House," the portal said in a statement.

It is noted that this step was taken as a result of the difficulty of Israel and Palestine to reach peace agreements. At the same time, the decision made by Trump and Witkoff does not yet have a specific action plan for the United States.

"It was decided that the Trump administration would 'take over' the management of humanitarian efforts in Gaza because Israel was not adequately handling them," Axios stressed.

According to the portal, Trump is unhappy with this decision, but is aware of its necessity.

Since July 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced a daily humanitarian pause in the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The pause will be applied in areas where the Israeli army does not conduct operations, in particular in Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balakha and Gaza.

On July 30, the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave announced that the total number of deaths from malnutrition due to the blockade in the Gaza Strip had increased to 154 people, including 89 children. At the same time, since the beginning of the conflict with Israel on October 7, 2023, the death toll has increased to 60,138 people, 146,269 were injured.
