Drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine damaged the monument to the ACE pilot Ivan Kozhedub in the Belgorod region

Drones of the Ukrainian army attacked the monument to the most effective ace of the Anti-Hitler Coalition during World War II, Ivan Kozhedub, a three-time Hero of the Soviet Union, a native of the Ukrainian SSR, in the village of Urazovo, Valuysky district, Belgorod region. This was announced on August 5 by the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov.

"Today, on an important holiday for the entire region — the Day of the Liberation of Belgorod from the Nazi invaders - the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a monument <...> erected in honor of three—time Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Nikitovich Kozhedub," the publication says on the Telegram channel.

The mayor clarified that all measures will be taken to repair the damage as quickly as possible. It is noted that the legendary ace flew his first combat mission from Urazovo airfield in March 1943.

Earlier that day, a resident of the village of Veselaya Lopan, Belgorod region, was injured in a drone attack. According to the doctors' diagnosis, the woman has barotrauma. It was reported that she received all the necessary assistance, and then the patient will undergo outpatient treatment.
