Finnish President Stubb held a telephone conversation with Trump
On August 4, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that he had had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, as a result of which the Ukrainian issue and cooperation on icebreakers were discussed.
"Finland supports all efforts aimed at an immediate ceasefire. Long—term negotiations should lead to a lasting and just peace," Stubb said in a message on the social network X.
He noted that the issue of cooperation between the two countries on the construction of icebreakers was also discussed.
"We also continued to discuss icebreakers, which are an important part of security and cooperation between the allies. Finland has built 60% of the world's icebreakers. We have the opportunity to build them reliably and quickly," the Finnish president said.
Earlier, on June 11, Stubb said that Finland would not send its military contingent to the territory of Ukraine even if a ceasefire was reached in the country. At the same time, he clarified that he expects Trump to continue negotiations on the cessation of hostilities.
