Inspectors from the Moscow Administrative Road Inspectorate (MADI) have seized almost 1.6 thousand taxi cars since the beginning of the year. This was reported on August 4 by the Telegram channel of the metropolitan Department of Transport.

For 7 months of this year, MADI inspectors examined about 18 thousand taxi cars. Almost 1.6 thousand cars were seized from unscrupulous carriers under Article 27.10 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. Inspections were carried out daily in several districts of Moscow.

Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport, noted that carriers are required to ensure the passage of a medical examination and monitor the technical preparation of the car before the start of the working day. A malfunction in the car or a driver feeling unwell can lead to accidents with serious consequences, he added.

"MADI inspectors will continue to monitor compliance with the rules of transportation in order to make taxis the most comfortable and safe mode of urban transport," Maxim Liksutov said.

Earlier, Anton Alikhanov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, said that the list of cars allowed for use by taxi companies after the law on taxi localization comes into force will be prepared in September. According to Alikhanov, foreign automobile production facilities located in Russia should be encouraged to use Russian automotive electronics.
