They want to complete the construction of the Azov Ring section in the DPR next year. This became known on August 4 at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the head of the republic Denis Pushilin. In just two and a half years, 1.5 thousand km of roads have been repaired and built in the region. The President drew the attention of local authorities to the problem with water supply and the state of the coal industry.

What was discussed at the meeting

Water supply remains the most serious challenge for the republic. The situation became particularly acute after the enemy launched a water blockade: on July 18, local authorities announced a reduction in water supply, and the largest cities of Donetsk and Makeyevka were completely switched to supply every three days. Denis Pushilin said that to solve the problem, a water pipeline was built, which consistently produces 250 thousand cubic meters. At the same time, water losses in the DPR reach 60% due to irregular water supply and high wear of networks, the head of the republic specified.

According to him, repair workers in the DPR eliminate about 100 gusts on water networks every day, and during peak periods the number of accidents reached 2 thousand per week. "Unfortunately, the water pipeline that was built does not solve all the problems. Moreover, as far as I understand, it has not reached the planned mode yet. But there is another problem that the government reports to me, which is the large losses of water during the movement of these resources," the president noted.

In addition to water supply, Vladimir Putin drew Denis Pushilin's attention to the state of the coal industry in the republic: "There are issues that require special attention." The president called the restoration of the housing stock, as well as construction work on a number of other facilities, including infrastructure ones, no less relevant for the region. So, this year the authorities plan to restore more than 100 educational institutions, 22 sports facilities and 57 cultural and leisure facilities.

It was also decided to restore four districts of Donetsk that were previously considered frontline areas — these are Kuibyshevsky, Kievsky, Kirovsky and Petrovsky.: Over 2,000 apartment buildings and 256 social facilities were damaged there. "After the front line has moved away, now we finally have the opportunity to fully pay attention to them. In general, there is a lot of serious work ahead. But we are optimistic. We have seen how it is possible to work, and we see this on the example of Mariupol, which previously had the opportunity to rebuild," Denis Pushilin said.

Vascular centers are currently in demand in the republic, as there are a large number of people suffering from diseases of this profile in the region. The regional authorities are trying to speed up the construction of such a hospital in Makeyevka. The region also lacks highly specialized medical specialists, the head of the DPR said. To solve this problem, a "Health patrol" was launched in the republic — 30 thousand people have already used its services. Doctors travel around municipalities and examine residents, including in small towns.

The construction of the Azov Ring section in the DPR is scheduled to be completed next year. Denis Pushilin noted that 1.5 thousand km of roads have been repaired and built in the region in two and a half years. "And now we are planning more than 800 km by the end of the year. These are record numbers. Honestly, we haven't seen anything like this. Not like now, but we probably didn't see it at all until 2014. These are really high—quality modern roads according to high Russian standards," he said.
