- German scientists have invented a possible replacement for rocket fuel
For the first time, German scientists have succeeded in obtaining a molecule consisting of six nitrogen atoms, also known as hexaazote or N6, which is the most energy-rich substance and can become the basis for a new rocket fuel. This was announced on July 3 by the N-tv channel.
"A thin film of pure nitrogen was obtained in the laboratory at very low temperatures of -196 degrees," the publication notes.
According to Professor Giessen Peter Schreiner, his team recently began cooperation with the laboratory in Dresden, where rocket fuel is being developed.
He noted that serious research and a lot of money are needed to use N6 in rocket engineering.
"We need to take into account a lot of engineering nuances. But if there is funding and everything goes well, a test rocket can be built in five years," Schreiner added.
On July 21, scientists at Southern Federal University announced the creation of a robotic complex with neuromorphic technologies capable of imitating human sensory organs. Such robots can be used in rescue operations.
