In Germany, it was proposed to cancel unemployment benefits for Ukrainian refugees
The leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), Markus Zeder, called for the complete abolition of unemployment benefits to Ukrainian refugees in Germany. This was reported by the Tagesspiegel newspaper on August 3.
"It is necessary to make sure that everyone who came or will come from Ukraine no longer receives unemployment benefits," he said.
The CSU chairman added that he wants to put this proposal up for discussion in the country's ruling coalition, since, according to him, Germany gives too much to Ukrainian refugees and therefore they practically do not work, but sit on benefits.
According to the German Ministry of Social Affairs, €6.3 billion was spent on payments to refugees from Ukraine in 2024.
On July 16, the Polish Sejm approved changes to the program of assistance to Ukrainian refugees, according to which, from November 1, the collective refugee accommodation centers (OZZ) will accept only representatives of protected groups from Ukraine. In addition, the Polish Foreign Ministry and the administration said that now the moment has come when this type of support "can be stopped."
