The court imprisoned the residents of St. Petersburg who burned the baby's body in a barrel.

The Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg has detained Irina Kostina, a resident of the city, and her roommate Igor Soldatov, accused of murdering a baby. This was announced on August 3 by the joint press service of the city courts.

"The Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg issued a decision on the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of Irina Kostina and Igor Soldatov, accused of committing a crime under paragraphs "c", "g" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder of a minor committed by a group of persons by prior agreement". — Ed.)," the Telegram channel says.

They will remain in custody until September 30 of this year. Kostina, as her lawyer clarifies, partially admitted guilt, had no intention of killing the child and asked for another preventive measure. Soldatov's lawyer also asked for a milder form of punishment.

According to investigators, Kostina, no later than 17:40 Moscow time on August 1, together with Soldatov, caused the death of a newborn child in an unidentified way. Then, to hide the traces of the crime, they placed the baby's body in a metal barrel and burned the remains. The defendants were detained the next day, on August 2.

A criminal case on the death of a baby was opened on August 2. According to the Izvestia source, the woman gave birth to the baby at home on June 12 and never showed it to the doctors, and the baby was also not registered anywhere. It was clarified that Kostina found the newborn dead on July 9, told her roommate about it, who burned the remains of the child in a barrel.
