In Lermontovo, Krasnodar Territory, a bridge collapsed due to heavy rains
A bridge collapsed due to bad weather in the village of Lermontovo in the Tuapse Municipal District of the Krasnodar Territory. This was announced on August 3 by the head of the district Sergey Boyko in the Telegram channel.
According to him, the place has been cordoned off, 300 housing buildings were left without crossing. Alternative detours are currently being sought. He noted that the water in the Shapsukho River has not yet drained, but its level is not rising.
Boyko clarified that operational services are already working at the site. He also stressed that no flooding of private homes was recorded during the first bypass, and a second bypass is planned.
Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratiev, in turn, noted that he was monitoring the situation and pointed out the difficult weather conditions in the region. According to him, the bridge was in disrepair, it was washed away by water as a result of rising water levels in rivers after heavy rains.
"Due to the mudslide, traffic through the Moldavian Pass is temporarily restricted. Reverse traffic has been organized in the Dzhubga area," he said on the Telegram channel.
The governor clarified that the evacuation of children's tourist groups is currently underway. He called ensuring the safety of residents the main task.
Earlier in the day, a storm warning was issued in Kuban due to heavy rainfall. It was clarified that by the end of the day, as well as in the morning and afternoon of August 4, water is expected to rise on rivers and watercourses in the southwestern part of the Krasnodar Territory and the Black Sea coast from Anapa to Magri.
Later, amid flooding in the village of Defanovka in the Kuban, a bus with passengers fell from a bridge into the river. We managed to save all 25 people.
