On August 2, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated military personnel and veterans on the Day of the Airborne Troops.

"On August 2, 1930, at the exercises of the Moscow Military District, a detachment of paratroopers for the first time completed the task of landing in the rear of a simulated enemy and neutralizing it. From that day on, the history of the legendary Airborne Troops began, which are celebrating their 95th anniversary today," the Russian Defense Ministry quoted Belousov as saying on the Telegram channel.

The head of the department noted that the high level of training and combat experience of the paratroopers make it possible to effectively solve complex tasks.

In addition, the Russian Defense Minister drew attention to the fact that the heroism of the "winged infantry" was tempered in various conflicts, including the Great Patriotic War and operations in Afghanistan and Syria. During the special military operation (SVO), the personnel of the Airborne Troops act decisively in key areas, as a result of which 99 people were awarded the title of Hero of Russia for their courage.

In the year of Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, Belousov expressed special gratitude to all generations of paratroopers for their impeccable and selfless service, as well as for their willingness to defend the Motherland on the first order.

He congratulated everyone on the holiday and wished them good health, well-being and self-confidence, adding that luck will always accompany everyone.
