In Japan, pensioners were banned from using ATMs when talking on the phone
Elderly people in the Japanese city of Osaka have been banned from using ATMs while making mobile phone calls. This was announced on August 1 by the NHK broadcasting company.
"In Osaka Prefecture, 8/1, for the first time in Japan, a decree came into force prohibiting elderly people from using an ATM during mobile phone calls," the publication says.
It is specified that such a measure was taken to prevent damage from special fraud. According to the newspaper, the decree also obliges financial institutions that install ATMs to post warning posters about fraud.
In addition, such companies also need to implement special systems that automatically detect a talking person using an artificial intelligence (AI) camera.
