An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in Kamchatka

Tremors of magnitude 6.2 and intensity 3 points were recorded off the coast of Kamchatka. This was announced on August 1 in the press service of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (USGS RAS).

"Magnitude: 6.2. <...> Intensity in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (preliminary estimate): 3," the Telegram channel says.

A new aftershock was registered in the Pacific Ocean 212 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The depth of the hearth was about 24 km.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that 120 aftershocks had been recorded in Kamchatka over the past 24 hours after the earthquake. In populated areas, the strength of some of the aftershocks was felt in the range of 2.0 to 5.0 points.
