Lukashenko calls Russia the guarantor of Belarus' security
Russia is the guarantor of security for Belarus. This was stated by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the country's diplomats on July 31.
According to Lukashenko, Russia "lent a shoulder" to Belarus during the threat in 2020.
"It is very difficult to imagine what would happen today [without Russia's help]. We would probably already be standing head-on in the west with the NATO bloc. Therefore, Russia is the guarantor of security for us," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying on its Telegram channel.
The Belarusian leader stressed that Russia is the guarantor of security for the republic, and "there is no one closer to us than the Russian people."
Earlier in the day, Lukashenko said that Minsk and Moscow had passed a serious test of strength together and had passed this test. Relations between the two countries are on the rise, the Belarusian president noted.
