Putin congratulates Russian swimmers on their victory at the World Championships in Singapore

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russian athletes at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The corresponding telegram was posted on the Kremlin's website on July 30.

"Dear Daria Vasilyevna [Trofimova], Daria Sergeevna [Klepikova], Kirill Gennadievich [Prigoda] and Miron Alexandrovich [Lifintsev]. Congratulations on the gold medal of the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore," the telegram reads.

The Head of State stressed that the swimmers proved themselves to be a strong and cohesive team in the combined mixed relay. He also called this discipline one of the most difficult and prestigious.

Putin noted that the athletes' skill, sense of elbow, endurance and fortitude helped them become champions and demonstrate the high level of the Russian training school. He wished the swimmers, coaches and mentors success and all the best.

Earlier, on July 27, swimmer Prigoda set a new national record in the 100 m breaststroke at the World Championships in Singapore. In the preliminary round, he took first place, clocked 58.53 seconds.
