Work is underway in Severo-Kurilsk to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in Kamchatka and the tsunami caused by it. This was announced on July 31 by the Governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko.

"In Severo-Kurilsk, the consequences of the earthquake and tsunami are being eliminated. Crews are dismantling damaged stove risers on the roofs of residential buildings," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The head of the region added that specialists are currently working to restore the hot water supply, and also stressed that in parallel with this, an assessment of damage from the elements is continuing in the area.

On July 30, Alexey Belik, Chairman of the Government of the Sakhalin Region, told Izvestia that the risk of a tsunami in coastal areas remained in North Kurilsk. At the same time, as he noted, the electricity supply damaged as a result of the natural disaster was restored throughout the region.
